SOCIAL CLUB
At Saltwater SUP, we have great fun on our social paddles. By being part of our Saltwater SUP social club, you surround yourself with other paddle boarding enthusiasts. Our social adventures vary in numbers, from smaller groups or a larger number of paddle boarders, as well as in ability of boards, from relative newbies to the sport to more advanced paddlers.
Our past SUP socials have included departing from Chalkwell Beach to Southend Pier, Leigh Old Town (including stopping for a cheeky pint), around Two Tree Island, and also paddling along Benfleet Creek leaving from Two Tree Island. This have ranged from step back fun games just off the beach to 10k runs for the paddlers looking to use up a bit more energy.
As part of our membership club we will be travelling further afield at weekends outside of Essex for the adventurous, trips on rivers and even SUP surfing trips down to Kent. Rest assured, we always have our qualified instructors on hand to guide the runs, offering any tips on technique, if required while ensuring the safety of the riders.
At Chalkwell Beach the wonderful Saltwater Beach Café chefs provide great food including burgers, Indian/Mexican, Nacho nights, beer & burgers, all with vegan options for us on the evening runs.

One of our most popular social events is the Saltwater 10.6 SUP challenge race, a fabulous day in which included a large number of racers, many of which had learnt to paddle board with us, some the same year they competed and summoned up courage and took part in this fun event.
We have run this for the past two years and added the Masters Event for 45+ competition. This year we are holding the Race day on 13th August 2022 and will have live music amongst other attractions on the day.
A big well done to everyone who has come along and joined in and to the spectators who helped make the day a huge success.

We are proud that our social club has been forming great friendships and developing people’s passion for stand up paddle boarding, with the whole relaxed beach vibe, fun, salt and sun in your hair to enjoy. Come along and bring your kids, many do come along as a family.
Our social paddles at Chalkwell are free to join, board hire is also available for these occasions to paddlers who have had lessons with us, with 50% discounted prices for Saltwater SUP club membership holders.
OUR RECENT SOCIAL
GLOBAL PADDLE OUT EVENT - October 2021
We had a great SUP social when we took part in the Global Paddle Out for the World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2021. Launching out at Chalkwell Beach, our home, as part of the ISTO (International Surf Therapy Organisation), this paddle out event united paddleboarders, surfers and water people worldwide through their nearest body of water and paddle, with their local water crew!
We had great fun forming a circle on the water, running boards after and playing step back challenges too. See more in the video!
We were excited to be part of this global event, which helps to bring much needed light to the global mental health crisis. As paddleboarders and water lovers, we try to destigmatise what it means to seek out our mental health support.
